Winnetka's streak of ultra-expensive home listings continues with a lakefront mansion that came on the market last week seeking $9.6 million.
The five-bedroom, 6,000-square-foot house at 203 North Sheridan Road has 100 feet of private Lake Michigan beach, according to Crain's. Built in 1927, it is being listed on behalf of the estate of Stavrula Gotsis, the first female plastic surgeon in the state.
The home was bought by Gotsis and her late husband in 1979 and received a remodel around that time, listing agent Joseph Kotoch of
Compass told Crain's.
If the home sells for its asking price, it would be only the fourth priciest home sale in
Winnetka this year.
In the spring, two homes in the suburb sold for $12 million each. Like the recent listing, both homes are on lakefront properties along Sheridan Road.
In January, another lakefront mansion on Sheridan sold for $10 million, and the new owners applied for a demolition permit but have not announced plans to tear it down.
There is one more current listing in Winnetka that has a higher asking price: A 27,000-square-foot home on
68 Locust Road has an asking price of just under $10 million. [
